The idea of pursuing health is good, and there is nothing wrong with choosing medicinal diet as a means of body building and physical fitness and adjuvant treatment of diseases, but there are many things to pay attention to when eating medicinal diet. Medicated diet is not a simple “medicine + diet”
medicated diet, never adding some medicinal materials to the ingredients to make a dish called medicated diet. Medicine can not be eaten indiscriminately, and of course, medicated diet can not be eaten casually. The Chinese Society of Traditional Chinese Medicine defines “medicinal diet with the same source of medicine and food” as “a kind of diet with the functions of recuperation, rehabilitation and health care, which is processed by traditional or modern technology under the guidance of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, using the basic idea of the same source of medicine and food, and combining the same source of medicine and food with food”. The key words in this definition should be noted:
First, “under the guidance of the theory of traditional Chinese medicine”. Since medicated diet involves the use of traditional Chinese medicine, it must be used under the guidance of traditional Chinese medicine theory. Traditional Chinese medicine has the attributes of cold, heat, warmth and coolness, and the characteristics of ascending, descending, floating and sinking, which should be used according to the physical condition and disease characteristics, preferably under the guidance of a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine.
The second is “traditional Chinese medicine with the same source of medicine and food”. What can be compatible with food materials must be “traditional Chinese medicine with the same source of medicine and food”. At present, there are only more than 100 kinds of traditional Chinese medicines in the list of “medicinal and edible homologous traditional Chinese medicines”. It is suggested that you consult them before using them. It should be noted that some traditional Chinese medicines, even those on the list, are explicitly required to be “used as both medicine and food within the limited scope and dosage”, such as ginseng, Ganoderma lucidum and Astragalus membranaceus, which we are familiar with. What are the characteristics of
good medicated diet?
Take Angelica Ginger Mutton Soup, “the first medicinal diet through the ages”, as an example, to learn how Zhang Zhongjing, the sage of medicine, chooses materials for diet.
Danggui Ginger Mutton Soup is from Synopsis of Prescriptions of the Golden Chamber by Zhang Zhongjing. It is used to treat “cold hernia, abdominal pain, hypochondriac pain and tenesmus”, and to treat “cold hernia in the abdomen, deficiency of consumptive disease”. Angelica, ginger and mutton are included in the prescription. The angelica is sweet and pungent in taste and warm in nature, and can enrich and activate blood, regulate menstruation and relieve pain, and moisten the intestines and relieve constipation; the ginger is pungent in taste and slightly warm in nature, and can relieve exterior syndrome and dispel cold, and warm the middle-jiao and stop vomiting; and the mutton is sweet and pungent in taste and hot in nature, and can tonify qi and blood, and nourish and strengthen. The properties and the tastes of the three materials are consistent, so that the three materials can not restrain each other, and can only promote each other but not undermine each other; and meanwhile, the pungent taste has the function of dispersing, so that the medicated diet can tonify but not stagnate, nourish but not greasy, and is particularly suitable for abdominal pain due to deficiency-cold, cold hernia, hypochondriac pain and consumptive disease. Later, this prescription was also used to treat chilblain, emaciation, postpartum weakness, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, cold limbs and other diseases. It can be seen
from this medicated diet that the composition of a good medicated diet has the following characteristics: First, the materials need not be too complicated, but the goal of the combination of the materials is clear and consistent, and the relationship between them should be promotion and complementarity, rather than containment and offset; Second, the selected ingredients and medicinal materials must be compatible with the disease. Medicated diet is therapeutic food, not just for satiety. Third, medicated diet should be delicious first. If it is not delicious, it is no different from taking medicine. Therefore, medicated diet should take into account the characteristics of color, aroma, taste, shape and effect. What kind of medicated diet is suitable for
autumn?
At present, it is autumn, and traditional Chinese medicine believes that dryness governs. The lung, one of the five internal organs of the human body, likes moistening but hates dryness. The lung governs breathing, combines with the skin and fur, and is interior-exteriorly related to the large intestine. Therefore, in autumn, it is prone to symptoms such as dry nasopharynx, dry cough with little phlegm, dry and chapped skin, and dry stool. Therefore, in autumn, we can choose more foods to nourish Yin and moisten dryness, such as tremella, sugarcane, bird’s nest, pear, pomegranate, orange, grape, kiwifruit, persimmon, sesame, lotus root, soybean milk, honey, walnut, turtle meat, turtle meat, black-bone chicken, pig lung, duck eggs, etc. Chinese yam, fragrant solomonseal rhizome, Lily, almond, peach kernel, donkey-hide gelatin, medlar, sealwort, black sesame, honey, fresh reed rhizome, angelica, Dendrobium candidum, rehmannia root, dwarf lilyturf tuber, asparagus and the like which
have the functions of nourishing yin, promoting the production of body fluid, nourishing blood, moistening dryness and the like can be appropriately selected. In addition, two medicated diets are recommended as follows:
The first one: Baishan irrigation lotus root
ingredients: 200 grams of fresh lotus root, 6 grams of Lily, 10 grams of yam, 6 grams of Poria cocos, 5 grams of jujube, 10 grams of honey, appropriate amount of milk.
The preparation method comprises the following steps of: grinding the Lily, the Chinese yam and the pitted red jujube, grinding the Lily, the Chinese yam and the pitted red jujube into powder, mixing the powder with the Poria cocos, adding the honey, grinding the powder to be extremely fine, mixing the powder with the milk to be moderately thick, and pouring the powder into the lotus root holes to fill the holes. Block the lotus root holes at both ends, fix them firmly with bamboo sticks, and steam them until the lotus root is soft and glutinous.
Nourishing function: moisten the lung, invigorate the spleen, nourish the heart and tranquilize the mind.
Suitable crowd: It is suitable for people with dryness invading the lung and deficiency of both heart qi and yin.
Dry pathogen invading the lung may be characterized by dry cough, little or no phlegm, sticky phlegm, dry lips, nose and throat, hoarseness, thirst, chest pain, or bloody sputum, red tongue tip, thin and yellow tongue coating, little body fluid, thready or rapid pulse, etc; Deficiency of both qi and yin of the heart is characterized by dizziness, palpitation, mental fatigue, short breath, dreaminess, fright, red cheeks, dry mouth, feverish sensation in the chest, palms and soles, spontaneous perspiration, night sweat, reddish tongue, scanty tongue coating, and thready, weak or rapid pulse.
Not suitable for people with cough due to wind-cold and deficiency-cold of spleen and stomach.
Ingredients: 25 grams of rice, 3 grams of Dendrobium candidum, 3 grams of Polygonatum, 3 grams of wolfberry fruit, appropriate amount of rock sugar.
The preparation method comprises the following steps of: cleaning the Dendrobium candidum and the Polygonatum odoratum, putting the Dendrobium candidum and the Polygonatum odoratum into a gauze bag, putting the Dendrobium candidum and the Polygonatum odoratum into a pot together with the cleaned rice, and adding a proper amount of clear water to soak for 40 minutes. After boiling with high fire, boil with low fire. When the porridge is cooked to 70%, add appropriate amount of rock sugar and washed wolfberry fruit until the porridge is cooked. Take out the gauze bag and eat it.
Dietary function: nourish stomach yin, clear heat and regulate stomach.
Suitable crowd: It is suitable for people with stomach-yin deficiency.
Stomach-yin deficiency syndrome can be characterized by epigastric distension or dull pain, hunger, dysphoria, no desire to eat more, dry mouth, dry throat, hiccup, vomiting, shortness of breath, dry stool, red and cracked tongue, little or no tongue coating, thready and rapid pulse, accompanied by dysphoria with feverish sensation in the palms and soles, emaciation and other characteristics.
Not suitable for people with excessive dampness and diabetes. Pregnant women, lactating women and infants are not recommended to eat.
